Biography

Sasha was borned in Pancevo, Serbia. He started judo at the age of 8 when he moved to Canada in 1993. As many members of the Judo High Performance Program, he was initially involved in the sport through his father who was himself a judoka in his native Serbia. The Olympic dream took form in Sasha imagination in 1996 while watching the Atlanta’s Olympics games on television. His family and his girlfriend have been great support in his quest to participate to the Games. His father has been particularly present since the beginning of his career, always there to help and guide him through the bad and the good days.  He gives also credit to his coaches and training partners for his present and future success. Finally, when he is not training, Sasha likes to spend time with his girlfriend and friends. He also finds times to study in the hope of becoming a teacher one day.
