Stéfanie Tremblay

Stéfanie Tremblay Pan Am 2011

Biography

Stéfanie began practicing judo at the age of 11. She liked the sport because of the group of friends she did find in judo but also, for the complexity of the sport. As for many members of the National Team, her rapid success in the sport also contributed to the pleasure of doing judo. The Olympic dream appears in a slow three step process to Stéfanie: her enrollment in the sport-studies program in her first year of high school was the first step. Then, her recruitment  has a susbtitute member of Quebec team at the Canada Games that did make her realized that she could compete at this level. And then finally, at the age of 17, discussion and support by her actual coach, ex-Olympian Marie-Hélène Chisholm, makes her realized that the Olympics are a legitimate dream for her. When not practicing judo, Stéfanie is a honour student at Concordia University Physical therapy program.
