Three Canadian Kata teams entered the Pan American Judo Kata Championships in Havana Cuba on April 28, and each came away with a medal.

Kelly Palmer and Gord Okamura from Alberta scored Gold in Katame no Kata, and placed Silver in Ju no Kata. James Martin and Ronald James Cook from Ontario took the Bronze medal in Kodokan Goshinjutsu, and Patrick Roffi and Martin Vallieres placed third for a Bronze in Kime no Kata.

Canada was also well represented by four IJF qualified judges: Hiroshi Nakamura, Gilles Lachaine, Fred Blaney and Yves Landry all judged Kata throughout the event.

The Kata competition was the largest that the PJC has held, with all five Kata present, and with many of the competitors having performed at the 2015 World Championships in Amsterdam.
